An American Holiday

—midwest summer vacation

Summer vacation is very unique in America. It isn’t backpacking to other cultures like in Europe. It’s visiting foreign regions in our own land. It mostly consists of long car rides and lazy afternoons. We see people that we’ve lost touch with. Celebrate with our families on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day. We choose to get a little sweatier and stay out a little later.

Summer is the number one season (apart from Christmas) that people shoot film. Even those who put their camera on the shelf most of the year. Summer vacations bring out the desire to document, and to remember. Maybe it’s the change in routine or the excitement of going to new places.
